It started back in October 2006 when we applied for our tax exempt status with the IRS. We were told that they were just starting to review applications from May 2006 and to expect at least 8 to 10 months for our application to be processed. But, on March 1st 2007 we were approved for our 501(c) (3).

This is a major step for us as it means that we are exempt from federal income tax and that any donations made to us are tax deductible.

It will also allow us to apply for many more grants that require a 501(c) (3) status.
